Dear Catherine,

(taken from Her)

Recently rewatched Her (2014). It's actually doing the movie injustice, you know, to take this scene apart from its context. But this scene.. you can't help but feel its sincerity, the hard-earned resignation that Theodore finally came to (is resignation the correct word?). Well, he doesn't have any other choices left, does he?

Actually, yes, Theodore still had many other choices; he could be angry, he could be bitter, he could have done any other worse things. But he didn't, maybe knowing it won't bring any good to anyone including himself, maybe knowing how futile of an effort it would be, maybe.

(Okay, yes, that is me projecting myself into Theodore, sorry, can't help it.)

All in all, Her is a heart-wrenching yet warming, sincere movie, with a not-so-subtle hint of Spike Jonze's criticims on our addiction to technology and inability to communicate with the people near us. And what's with the instagram-filter-esque colors, warm but bleak, appealing but isolating at the same time? Yeah, solid 8,5/10, worth every minutes I spent watching it.
